With strong visual and vocal resemblances to a young Frank Sinatra, when Vaughn would improvise a love song on stage, the audience would swoon and yell out, "Frankie." Although Vaughn was making a name for himself in comedy, one night, on a dare, Vaughn entered a singing contest held in a local night club...and won! The grand Prize was a singing appearance at The Hollywood Palladium. The response was overwhelming. Soon, word of the "young Sinatraesque" character spread quickly and Vaughn was suddenly in demand to perform at prestigious private parties and corporate events. Among them were the wrap parties for the movies "Volcano", "City of Angles" and for such entertainment luminaries as Danny DeVito and Hugh Hefner. Vaughn was named winner of the Jeffrey Foundation's "Frank Sinatra Sound-A-Like Contest" and was further honored with The Southern California Motion Picture Council's "Bronze Halo" and "Jeanie Platinum" awards.
